Our bachelor of fine arts (BFA) in studio art with an emphasis in painting explores studio exercises, problems, and critiques, emphasizing a multitude of mediums and their characteristics. Students are expected to continuously develop technical skills, advanced color considerations, and solutions of pictorial problems with new focus on individual creativity.
In the painting program, you will explore your individual vision within the context of developing disciplined studio practices in watercolors, oils, temperas, acrylics, and more. You’ll develop your work and voice within a wide range of technical, aesthetic, and conceptual approaches related to painting.
Critiques and seminars led by faculty and visiting artists provide you with the form and structure to discuss your work in relation to contemporary art issues. All classes emphasize individual aesthetic choices and expression, and the exploration of contemporary critical issues.
